IANTD Technical couse overview

Tek Essentials Diver

This mid-level Specialty Continuing Education Diver Program is designed to enable the certified diver to extend proficiency in the water and to review and put in practice the Essentials learned in any IANTD diver classes. This systematic learning and professional training is designed to enhance the student’s personal and team underwater skills. Development of buoyancy, trim, balance and propulsion. Refine and expand fundamental diving skills. Equipment Streamlining and configuration. Diving safety, situational awareness and accident prevention. Enhanced Dive planning and gas management. Decompression overview and minimum decompression procedures. This program is designed for divers who wish to increase their skill competency by further developing their diving skills to be safer, more comfortable and more efficient in the water while expanding the divers basic diving skills to take more advanced recreational and/or technical diving programs.

Key outcomes

The course concentrates on:

  • Safe use of enriched air and staged decompression
  • Basic twinset/dual‑cylinder handling and valve drills
  • Team positioning and communication
  • Equipment configuration and streamlining
  • Emergency gas management and team procedures

Course Focus

Tek Essentials Diver introduces recreational divers to the fundamentals of planned decompression, gas planning, and basic technical equipment configurations.

The course is designed as the first step for divers who want to safely extend depth and gas options beyond standard recreational limits.

Students learn conservative planning, gas switching, and emergency procedures.

The emphasis is on control, consistency, and repeatability.

Tec Essentials Diver is not a shortcut, it is a smart investment in long‑term diving competence.

Advanced EANx Diver

This Program is designed to extend the diver’s knowledge in the use of EANx for Sport diving.

It further develops diving skills and provides a greater understanding of the EANx concept of diving.

The Program employs the use of EANx mixes. The purpose of this program is to qualify divers to do dive to 150 fsw (45 msw)

and Decompression with up to 100% Oxygen and 1.6 PO2 for DECO gas.

 Key outcomes

  • Calculate MOD/EAD and set conservative depth limits;
  • Use EANx for accelerated decompression;
  • Advanced buoyancy and trim for deeper profiles
  • The course emphasizes understanding and decision making rather than simply following procedures.

Advanced EANx Diver trains divers to plan and conduct deeper dives using enriched air nitrox mixtures safely and effectively.
The program emphasizes oxygen exposure management, EAD/MOD calculations, and decompression planning using EANx and oxygen for deco

Advanced Recreational Trimix Diver / Plus

ADV. Rec. Trimix Diver:

This Program is designed to extend the diver’s knowledge in the use of EANx for Sport diving. It further develops diving skills and provides a greater understanding of the EANx concept of diving. It is also intended to supplement the skills of Recreational Trimix Divers. The Program employs EANx mixes from 21% oxygen to a maximum of 1.5 PO2 combined with a Helium content in which case the END will not exceed 100 fsw (30 msw) may be used. The purpose of this program is to qualify divers to dive up to 150 fsw (45 msw) and perform decompression stops required dives.

Advanced Recreational Trimix Diver introduces helium‑based gas mixtures for deeper recreational profiles while maintaining conservative safety margins. The course covers blend theory, gas planning for trimix, decompression strategies, and practical use of helium mixes to reduce narcosis.

ADV. Rec.Trimix Diver Plus:

Same as ADV. Rec.Trimix Diver plus below

The purpose of this program is to qualify divers to dive up to 170 fsw (51 msw) and perform decompression stops required dives

Key outcomes:

  • Understand trimix composition and effects on narcosis;
  • Plan dives using custom blends and appropriate deco gases;
  • Execute deeper dives with staged decompression and team protocols

The course builds your capability to think, plan, and act like a technical diver, not just follow a checklist.

The goal is to develop a diver who is self‑sufficient within a team, capable of handling real‑world technical diving challenges.

Normoxic Trimix Diver / Plus

This Program is designed to train those who wish to dive to depths between 130 fsw (39 msw) and 200 fsw (60 msw), but who do not wish to breathe air below 130 fsw (39 msw). This Program is further designed to train divers in the safer use helium-based gas mixtures.

Normoxic Trimix Diver:

Prepares divers to conduct dives typically between 100 fsw (30 msw) and up to 200 fsw (60 msw) using normoxic helium‑oxygen‑nitrogen blends so that bottom gas oxygen fraction remains safe for deep exposure. The program focuses on advanced gas planning, helium use, decompression management, and risk mitigation for deep dives.

Normoxic Trimix Diver Plus:

Is designed to train those who wish to dive to depths between 130 fsw (39 msw) and 250 fsw (75 msw), but who do not wish to breathe air below 130 fsw (39 msw). This Program is further designed to train divers in the safer use helium-based gas mixtures

Key outcomes:

  • Plan and execute normoxic trimix dives with conservative MOD limits;
  • Advanced emergency procedures and team coordination for deep profiles;
  • Use of multiple gases for staged decompression.
